Name: Dr. `Ali Jum`ah Muhammad.
Born in 1952, in Beni Sueif Gov., Egypt.

Nationality: Egyptian

Educational background:

-Dr. `Ali Jum`ah is a holder of a PhD in Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence (Usul Al-Fiqh) since 1988 from the Faculty of Shari`ah & Law, Al-Azhar University.
-He obtained his PhD degree with first class honors.
-Dr. Jum`ah obtained his M.A in Usul Al-Fiqh from the same faculty in 1985, with first class honors.
-B.A from the Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies at Al-Azhar University in 1979.

Academic qualifications:

-Member of Al-Azhar Fatwa Committee since 1995.
-Member of the Fiqh Committee at the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs since 1996.
-Academic advisor for the International Institute of Islamic Thought and director of the Cairo branch of the Institute since 1992.
-Deputy Manager of Saleh `Abdullah Kamel Center for Islamic Economy, Al-Azhar University, since 1993.
-Member of the Editorial Boards for many cultural, scientific periodicals and magazines such as: Al-Muslim Al-Mu`asir, Rabitat Al-Jam`iyat Al-`Arabiyyah, Al-Iqtisad Al-Islami, and Majallat Al-Muslim.
-Dr. Jum`ah personally participated in many Islamic conferences, and he acted as deputy of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar in many of the Islamic conferences held in Italy, Spain, Britain, Russia, the United States of America, Malaysia, Japan and other countries.
